About the role:
We are seeking for a reliable, organised and dedicated Assistant Mechanic to support our workshop in servicing, repair, and upkeep of our vehicle fleet. This practical, hands-on role involves supporting day-to-day workshop activities, performing basic mechanical duties, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and well-organized work environment. Works under the general direction of Lead Mechanic or Workshop Manager, the role will include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities.
· Support the maintenance and repair of heavy plant, light fleet vehicles, small machinery, and associated equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
· Assist in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles, engines, or mechanical systems.
· Perform basic maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
· Assist in disassembling and reassembling vehicle components
· Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed
· Support in diagnosing mechanical or electrical issues under the supervision of a senior mechanic.
· Prepare tools, equipment, and parts needed for repairs.
· Help order and manage inventory of parts and supplies
· Keep the workshop clean, safe, and organized.
· Assist in testing vehicles or machinery after service to ensure proper function.
· Adhere to safety guidelines procedure and maintain safe work environment
· Report any defects, hazards, or incidents to the supervisor immediately.

Skills and Experience:
· Previous experience in a similar role (desirable)
· Self-motivated and shows initiative, take pride in own outputs
· Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
· Basic Learning, Literature & Numeracy skills
· Willingness to learn, adapt and take on new challenges
· Proven experience in both working independently and as part of a team
· Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively
· Strong work ethic, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
· High level attention to detail and accuracy
· Friendly, positive and flexible attitude
