About the role

This full-time role is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic team at IRARA in Canberra, ACT. As a Migrant Support Worker, you will play a crucial part in providing assistance and guidance to migrants in Australia. Your role will involve assisting migrants with essential services to support their decision to depart Australia.

What you'll be doing

  • Conducting needs assessments to identify the unique challenges and requirements of new migrant clients
  • Providing one-on-one case management to assist clients navigate systems and processes
  • Collaborating with government stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate client records and contributing to the continuous improvement of service delivery

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly migrants
  • Minimum 1-2 years' case management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the capacity to navigate complex and confrontational situations
