Are you passionate about providing exciting, nutritionally balanced meals to children? Then this is the job for you We are a fun, innovative privately owned Brand New 100 place Centre.

Our Shoalwater Centre is looking for a passionate Food Coordinator to share role to keep our Children at Discovery at Play Early Learning Centre healthy.

The position requires a motivated worker with a background in the delivery of nutrition and a passionate about working with children, families and community.

The ideal candidate

  • Will provide and prepare a variety of well-balanced nutritional meals.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment
  • Follow Get Up and Grow and Australian dietary requirements
  • Food Safety Training
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Current WWCC
  • To be an active team member of the service

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan a weekly menu, rotating the menu seasonally to suit.
  • Provide a diet for the children which has reduced sugar, no added salt, low fat, high fibre, and is free from artificial colours and preservatives.
  • Ensure any special diets are adequately catered for e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, dairy intolerance etc. An alternative must be prepared.
  • Make a shopping list from weekly menu.
  • Rotate stock each week.
  • To follow the menu and update menu notices around the centre if changes are made.
  • Complete all required paperwork in centre Food Safety Program
  • To support healthy eating habits educationally through veggie patches and/or herb gardens
  • To spend mealtimes with children in each room encouraging and discussing their healthy meals daily.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the food preparation area.
  • Maintaining own self's health, it is at upmost importance that you remain healthy to avoid illness and cross contamination.
  • To interact positively with children, staff, and visitors.
