The Position
Council is seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic planning professional with broad and extensive experience in the assessment of development applications to join our development planning team. A high standard of inter-personal communication, negotiation and writing skills are essential. The position would ideally be suited to planning professionals seeking to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment where you will be exposed to interesting and diverse projects across the Fairfield LGA.

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual capable of exercising delegation and case managing development proposals, preparing reports and attending the Sydney Western City Planning Panel (SWCPP) and the Fairfield Local Planning Panel (FLPP) in addition to directing and facilitating input into Council's planning policies and strategies.

Essential

  • University degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning or related discipline
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Extensive experience in assessing DAs
  • Working knowledge of all relevant planning legislation
  • Ability to provide pre-development advice to prospective applicants
  • Conflict resolution/negotiation skills
  • A valid driver's licence

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualifications in urban and regional planning or related discipline
  • Experience in urban design and principles of architecture
  • Experience in staff supervision/mentoring
  • Experience in the Land and Environment Court

Salary & Employment Conditions

  • Full time, permanent position - 35 hours per week
  • This position is a Grade 7, salary range is $104,720 p.a. with performance progression to$122,668. p.a.
  • A Mobile Telephone is provided
  • A Motor Vehicle benefit is available
