About the role

As the Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 - Orthopaedic Trauma, you will play a key role in advancing evidence-based care and supporting excellence across the orthopaedic trauma pathway. You will:

  • Provide expert clinical assessment, planning, and care for patients with orthopaedic injuries and trauma.
  • Support acute and post-operative management, including wound care, mobility, traction, and surgical recovery.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor to nurses, providing specialist education and guidance in trauma management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, perioperative and emergency departments, and the Hip Fracture Steering Committee to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, policy development, and the implementation of best practice models.
  • Promote safety, quality, and professional growth across the orthopaedic specialty.

This role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership ensuring every patient receives world-class treatment supported by skilled, confident nurses.

About You

You're an experienced orthopaedic nurse with advanced clinical judgment, a steady hand under pressure, and a deep passion for surgical and trauma recovery care. You thrive on teamwork, continuous learning, and helping others succeed.

You will bring:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and relevant post-graduate qualification in Orthopaedics or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of clinical experience in orthopaedic or trauma nursing.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and skill in wound care, fracture management, and surgical recovery.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and share expertise with others.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, evidence-based practice, and quality care delivery.
