Key Relationships Manager
Wayside Chapel is looking for an experienced and values-driven Key Relationships Manager to nurture and grow two vital supporter portfolios: mid-value donors and our Gift in Wills pipeline.
You'll be at the centre of building strong, lasting relationships that not only sustain but grow the support that makes our mission possible.
This is more than a fundraising role. It's an opportunity to connect deeply with people, share the impact of Wayside's work, and help supporters leave a lasting legacy in the community.
About Wayside Chapel
Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care and support to the most marginalised people on and around the streets of Sydney since 1964. Our mission is to create a community with no 'us and them', and address underlying issues of inequality, wellbeing, and loneliness. From our centres in Kings Cross and Bondi and through outreach teams, we offer a range of support services that place dignity, respect, and love at the heart of what we do.

About the role
Working alongside another part-time Key Relationships Manager, you'll oversee a portfolio of around 800 mid-value donors and 1,500 Gift in Wills supporters. Mid-value donors contribute over $1 million annually, while the Gift in Wills program is in an exciting stage of growth and development.
In this role, you'll design and deliver tailored stewardship strategies, host events, create personalised communications, and ask for gifts at the right time in the right way. You'll also use data and insights to grow engagement, giving frequency, and long-term supporter value, helping to ensure Wayside's future impact.
This role requires working three to four days per week.
Key duties
- Manage and grow the mid-level donor portfolio ($1k–$10k) to meet annual revenue targets
- Nurture bequest leads and build a sustainable Gift in Wills program
- Develop and deliver personalised stewardship plans, donor events and communications
- Build and maintain trusted relationships through face-to-face, phone and written channels
- Collaborate with colleagues across fundraising, programs and communications to craft compelling cases for support
- Use data and insights to evaluate and optimise donor engagement and giving
- Maintain accurate donor records and contribute to budgets, forecasts and reporting
About you
You're a natural relationship builder who thrives on connecting with people and helping them see the impact of their support. You're strategic yet hands-on, with the confidence to ask for gifts and the warmth to build trust over time.
You'll also bring:
- 4+ years' experience in fundraising, communications or relationship management
- A track record of achieving financial results in fundraising or business development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong judgement, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- A passion for social impact and alignment with Wayside's mission and values
It's a plus if you:
- Hold a degree in business, marketing or communications
- Have experience soliciting high-value gifts and working in fundraising
- Understand current trends in philanthropy, donor engagement and mid-level giving
- Have experience with CRM systems (ideally Salesforce)
- Are familiar with the Wayside Chapel ethos and values
Why Wayside?
- Five weeks' Annual Leave
- $15,900 of your salary tax-free through salary packaging
- Paid Cultural and Ceremonial Leave
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Wayside is an Equal Opportunity Employer that provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Prior to an offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks, including a Police check and reference checks.
