About the Role
QT Canberra is no ordinary hotel - it's a stage where culture meets politics, and charisma is the currency. In the heart of New Acton, we're seeking a passionate and dynamic
General Manager
to lead the charge. As the property's chief host, brand ambassador, and experience creator, you'll be present, visible, and engaged. Bringing to life a space where familiar faces grace our walls and unexpected moments unfold nightly. 

This role is central to realising and sustaining EVT's Hospitality commercial objectives and people-focused values. You'll drive performance, foster a high-energy culture, and lead with purpose—delivering exceptional service while growing revenue and maintaining operational excellence. Skills & Experience

•    8+ years of proven experience in a GM or similar role coming from either branded or highly regarded independent hotels.

•    Strong sales and operational background with a track record of achieving revenue growth and profitability. 

•    Deep understanding of operational frameworks, risk mitigation, and WH&S compliance. 

•    Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to be present, visible, and approachable across all areas of the business. 

•    Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, drive engagement, and develop talent. 

•    Experience in managing budgets, forecasts, and Profit & Loss reports with strategic insight. 

•    Strong sales and customer experience mindset, with the ability to act as brand ambassador and chief host. 

•    Ability to foster community relationships and maintain strong stakeholder networks. 

•    Comfortable driving innovation and continuous improvement across service and operations. 

•    Committed to upholding company values, ethical standards, and corporate social responsibility.

•    Role model company policies with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and risk mitigation. 

•    Drive revenue growth, market share, and profitability through strategic leadership. 

•    Build a high-performing, engaged team culture focused on development and retention. 

•    Deliver exceptional guest experiences and respond proactively to feedback. 

•    Oversee financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and cost control. 

•    Champion innovation through new revenue and efficiency initiatives. 

•    Maintain strong relationships with guests, team members, owners, and the local community.

•    Maximise asset value through effective use of physical space and operational excellence. 

•    Uphold EVT's ethical and business standards, CSR commitments, and workplace values.
