Adelaide, South Australia Department for Infrastructure and Transport, South Australia Full time $110,696 - $120,470 per year

Department for Infrastructure and Transport

Job reference: 695019

Location: ADELAIDE

Job status: Ongoing

Eligibility: Open to Everyone

At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.

Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community.

We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.

The Opportunity

If you're an experienced electrical engineer looking for a role where your work has a direct impact on how Adelaide moves, this is your chance to be at the heart of the city's rail network. As a Senior Signals Engineer – Systems Engineering, you'll join a passionate and skilled team dedicated to keeping our trains running safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This is not just about maintaining systems – it's about shaping their future. You'll work closely with fellow engineers, service providers, and key stakeholders to provide trusted technical advice, guide the delivery of signalling projects, and ensure everything we do meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance. Your role will take you from reviewing designs and solving complex technical challenges to mentoring others and sharing your expertise, ensuring the continued growth of our engineering capability.

Every decision you make and every problem you solve will contribute to the safe, efficient, and sustainable movement of thousands of people across the Adelaide metropolitan network. You'll see the results of your work every day – not hidden in a file or report but running on the tracks in real time.

About You

You're an engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges and delivering practical, dependable solutions. With a strong background in electrical or systems engineering, you're comfortable working on large, intricate infrastructure and understand the critical importance of safety, reliability, and performance in every project.

You combine technical depth with the ability to see the bigger picture. You can analyse risks, identify opportunities, and translate complex engineering issues into clear, actionable advice. You're equally confident in a design review meeting, out

on site, or in a conversation with stakeholders who may not speak the technical language – and you know how to bring people along with you.

Your approach is collaborative and forward-looking, and you take pride in developing the capability of those around you. Whether mentoring a colleague or leading a project discussion, you share your knowledge generously and lead by example. Above all, you're motivated by the knowledge that your work keeps people moving safely and efficiently, shaping a better transport future for South Australia.
