Department for Infrastructure and Transport
Job reference: 695020
Location: ADELAIDE
Job status: Ongoing
Eligibility: Open to Everyone
At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.
Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community.
We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing and delivering the systems that keep South Australia moving safely and efficiently. From road lighting and traffic signals to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and tunnel or bridge controls, you'll provide specialist advice and technical expertise that ensures our infrastructure is reliable, sustainable, and future-focused.
Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping standards, applying best practice, and staying ahead of emerging technologies. Your work will influence projects across the state, helping to deliver smarter, safer, and more connected transport solutions.
This is a role where your expertise will make a real difference. You'll collaborate with teams across the Department, share your knowledge to guide successful project delivery, and contribute to building infrastructure that communities depend on every day.
About You
You're a technically skilled and strategically minded engineer who brings both deep discipline knowledge and a practical understanding of the challenges in delivering complex infrastructure. You stay across industry issues, risks, and emerging trends, and you know how to apply this awareness to create solutions that are safe, efficient, and future-focused.
You have experience leading and motivating technical teams, building a collaborative culture where people perform at their best. With strong project management skills, you're confident in coordinating resources, managing risks, and keeping projects on track.
Equally, you're customer-focused and an effective communicator, able to engage with stakeholders, resolve complex matters, and explain technical information in a way that makes sense to different audiences. Above all, you're committed to delivering high-quality outcomes that support South Australia's transport network and the communities who rely on it.
