Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital-raising, transactional and risk management products and services.

The Global Institutional Banking Coverage business leads banking relationship management and the provision of transaction banking, risk management and capital solutions to our clients. Their purpose is to provide IB&M clients with solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives through the client-facing teams, in conjunction with Sustainable Finance, ESG and COO teams.

The Line 1 Embedded Risk team is responsible for partnering with the business to integrate non-financial risk management & conduct processes including: advising, challenging and assessing of risks, review and implementation of control environments, resolution of issues, investigation of incidents and monitoring of regulatory and conduct obligations. This role is pivotal in shaping the risk culture to achieve fair outcomes for our clients, to protect market integrity, to meet regulatory requirements and protect our people.

As the Director and lead of the GIBC Line 1 Embedded Risk & Conduct Advisory team you will leverage your knowledge of the end-to-end Institutional Banking environment to advise and assist the Business on effective application of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF).

Key responsibilities for this role includes:

  • Ensuring effective assessment of risks, controls and regulatory obligations across the GIBC Business profile in alignment with risk appetite, regulatory expectations and in conjunction with Line 2 counterparts.
  • Managing your team to drive continuous improvement of the business control environment, thorough investigation of incidents and resolution of issues
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging risks, conduct thematic reviews and shape proactive risk mitigation processes and controls.
  • Coordinate and attend risk and governance forums for GIBC and IB&M, deliver risk reporting and metrics to drive accountability and improvements across the business.

We are interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Experience in Non-Financial Risk, Conduct or Compliance roles within Institutional Banking or Financial Markets;
  • Deep understanding of operational risk frameworks, control design, and regulatory landscapes;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and strong critical thinking;
  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment with strong organisational skills and high attention to detail;
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and influence senior stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint;
