Launch your future as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice
As an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will support the Workshop and Fleet team and gain practical skills in mechanical activities to positively contribute to the delivery of the objectives of the Works and Service Business Unit. This position is based at our Oak Flats Services Depot.
You will complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology course at Shellharbour TAFE to gain and develop practical knowledge and skills associated with inspecting, servicing, repairing vehicles and mechanical equipment. This opportunity is open to school leavers, mature age applicants and/or those who have already commenced their Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
This is more than a trade... this is a long term career path.
Our apprenticeships cover theoretical & practical requirements of on the job and off the job training. After completing your apprenticeship you will have formal qualifications with four years of practical experience with ability to gain additional tickets such as
Medium Ridge (MR) truck licence, forklift ticket, loader competency and more.
Council's Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to grow Council's skilled workforce capacity by creating job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialised roles and to develop future leaders by providing employment opportunity and professional development experiences that support and complement a related course of external tertiary study. Council's cadets, apprentices or trainees receive ongoing training, guidance and support from workplace mentors while completing a nationally recognised qualification.
