About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our New South Wales team.  Working closely with a director, you will work within a small team supporting small, medium and large-scale projects which span across a variety of sectors. Experience with residential clients would be advantageous.

With strong communication skills, you will have an aptitude for accuracy and will bring a solid technical foundation and a collaborative approach to work.  You will play a key role in nurturing junior team members helping them build capability and confidence through guidance, support, and shared experience.

The ideal candidate will be committed to personal growth, seek career mentorship to enable advancement, and have a keen interest in participating in industry forums and events.

Key aspects of this role include:

·       Management of small, medium and large-scale projects end to end

·       Lead small project teams providing briefings, monitoring task progress and sharing feedback and development actions on all delegated work

·       Preparation of cost plans and estimates

·       Preparation of Bills of Quantities

·       Contribute to project design meetings

·       Manage progress claims and variations assessments

·       Attend site visits and undertake valuations of work completed on site

·       Preparation of monthly Cost Reports and Cashflow Forecast

·       Represent Slattery in client meetings

What does the right person look like?

·       Tertiary qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, architectural design or civil engineering

·       RICS or AIQS accreditation or working towards will be desirable

·       Prior experience in a similar role working in various sectors including education, health, aged care, commercial, workplace fitouts, residential, justice, infrastructure, and arts and culture

·       Proficient skills in a cost estimating tool (desirable CostX)

·       Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office

·       Knowledge of the local construction industry

·       Ability to apply commercial awareness to projects and effectively manage costs to maintain profitability

·       Good technical knowledge with proven ability to interpret and understand building plans

·       Understanding and application of quality assurance standards including ability to apply a high degree of accuracy to all work undertaken

·       Strong analytical skillset with an aptitude for critical thinking

·       Solid organisational and planning skills partnered with the ability to meet deadlines

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good presentation capabilities

·       Developed internal and external stakeholder engagement capabilities

·       Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently

·       Ability to lead small project teams and mentor and develop others

·       Self-motivated with a willingness to engage with feedback, learn and develop

·       Current drivers' license preferred
