My client is one of the world's leading producers of premium quality products used by professionals in the specialist trade, engineering, building and construction industries. With a worldwide market presence, their long-established brand is synonymous with quality, precision and excellence.
The Australian subsidiary, a fully owned business of its European parent company, focuses locally on sales, marketing, finance, and logistics — importing all products directly from Europe. With a loyal network of distributors and independents, the business has built a strong reputation in the ANZ market. It is known for its collaborative culture that values people and customers equally, with a commitment to open communication, operational excellence, and taking personal ownership.
About the Role
As the incoming General Manager, you'll move into a well-structured succession plan with a clear mandate: lead and grow the Australian and New Zealand business. Following a transition period with the current MD, reporting to the Group CEO in Europe, you will be entrusted with delivering sustainable growth and profitability while safeguarding the reputation of the brand in the local market. You will lead a small, cross-functional team, foster trusted distributor relationships, and expand the product footprint, while keeping a sharp focus on customer experience, pricing and operational efficiency. This is a role that blends hands-on leadership with the opportunity to step up into board-level accountability.
The role will see you setting direction in partnership with the board, translating global priorities into local action, and ensuring that performance is delivered across all parts of the business. You'll oversee the full P&L, shape market strategy, inspire your team with a clear vision for growth and champion a culture of performance and accountability. With New Zealand as a growth market and plans in Australia to establish new product functions, your mandate will be to set the business up for long-term continued expansion.
About YouYou are more than a capable operator — you are a trusted leader ready to own business outcomes. With a proven track record in B2B sales and commercial leadership, preferably with some experience selling technical products in a wholesale trade or industrial sales environment, you bring both strategic insight and the willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed. Perhaps you are already a General Manager or Country Manager of a mid-sized subsidiary business; or perhaps you are a senior national sales or commercial leader who is ready to take the next step into full P&L accountability.

You have experience guiding a small, multi-functional team, developing growth strategies, and building enduring customer partnerships.
