Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for a maximum period of two (2) years. If the initial contract is for less than 2 years, it may be extended or renewed once, up to the 2 year limit. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement. The Payroll, Aurion and HR Help Team works closely with other areas across PM&C to deliver a high-quality payroll service, Aurion system support and helpdesk function for PM&C and MOU agencies. The Team is highly engaged, experienced and capable with a strong focus on accuracy, service delivery and accountability.What you will do As the APS5 Payroll Adviser you will work in a small payroll team responsible for the delivery of fortnightly payroll services to the Department and MOU agencies utilising the Human Resources Management Information System - Aurion. The position is responsible for the following: Undertaking more complex payroll processing as required including but not limited to non-routine superannuation and overtime matters, compensation payroll activities, graduated return to work support, fortnightly manual payrollUndertaking day to day team payroll processing activities like employee pay variations, superannuation, higher duties, employee movements, commencements and separations in periods of high demand or staff absence.Supporting SES, Secretary and Public Officer Holder payroll processing activities as required.Completing team member work allocation and checking in designated timeframesProviding payroll processing training and coaching to existing and new team members as requiredHandling escalations, preparing correspondence and provide accurate and timely advice to clientsPreparing and checking voluntary redundancy and incentive to retire estimates and processing as requiredPutting forward ideas, actively participating in and taking the lead on process improvement activities where requiredActively contributing to positive team relationships and providing guidance, feedback and assistance to other team members.What you will bringOur ideal candidate will perform at the level in accordance with the PM&C Performance model. Our ideal candidate will have:Demonstrated experience in payroll processing activities, preferably APS Payroll and using Aurion, with a proven ability to achieve resultsDemonstrated experience in the application of pay and conditions of service policy, procedures and employment provisions as they relate to fortnightly payroll and other entitlement managementDemonstrated client service skills with a strong focus on deliveryDemonstrated experience in successfully supporting sensitive and complex Payroll matters and high-level APS employees.Good written and oral communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a range of clients and stakeholdersGood initiative and a focus on finding solutionsStrong team skills and will actively contribute to positive team relationships and genuinely care about the welfare of their team mates at workGood leadership and mentor skills, with an ability to provide guidance, feedback and assistance to other team members as well as seeking support when they need it.Good data literacy with an ability to analyse payroll data through Microsoft excel is highly desirable.
