Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt.

As the
Technician Maintenance – Boilermaker
, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and rebuilding surface mobile mining equipment.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Completing preventative maintenance, inspections & repairs on mobile plant equipment
  • Responding to breakdowns & executing corrective work orders
  • Contributing to root cause analysis for reliability improvements
  • Truck tub repairs, loader buckets, wear packages, crack repairs, heavy fabrication
  • Supporting safety initiatives & maintaining workshop cleanliness

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Prior experience with structural repairs & heavy fabrication on mobile mining equipment such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Sandvik, Komatsu and/or Hitachi
  • Mobile equipment repair - fault finding, crack testing & component refurbishment
  • Experience with truck tubs, loader buckets, and mobile attachments desirable
  • Reading CAD plans & technical drawings
  • Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Cert III in Engineering - Fabrication (Boilermaker)
  • Current C Class Drivers License
  • High Risk Licenses; Dogger, Rigger and Forklift (Desirable)
