Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

At Healius, we all have one thing in common, we are passionate about making a difference to the health of Australians. And right now it's an exciting time to join us.

About Us

Healius employs 8,000+ passionate people, with an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.  We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia's largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities.  This means that you will be working with purpose whilst being a part of a business big enough to offer interstate mobility, job security and opportunities to fulfill your career ambitions.

As Specialist Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in engaging with medical specialists to drive growth and retention across your territory. The role focuses on identifying high-potential referrers, deepening relationships with existing clients, and promoting the value of Healius Pathology's services.

Although this position has no formal direct reports, it involves collaboration and informal leadership — including sharing market insights, supporting national campaigns, and contributing to team capability uplift.

What You Will Be Doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Execute the specialist growth strategy within your allocated territory, aligning with local and national objectives
  • Develop and implement tailored business plans for key specialist groups to meet revenue and activity targets.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with medical specialists, practice managers, and key hospital stakeholders.
  • Support colleagues through sharing best practices, mentoring on territory planning, and contributing to team initiatives.
  • Participate in national and local campaigns focused on revenue generation and new service uptake.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of pathology services and support materials, ensuring effective communication with clients.
  • Monitor and report on territory performance, using insights to adjust activity plans and highlight emerging opportunities.
  • Represent Healius at conferences, seminars, and industry events to strengthen brand awareness and market presence.

These are the type of attributes & skills you would posses;

  • Tertiary qualification in Science, Healthcare, Business, or a related discipline

Minimum 4 years of commercial or business development experience in healthcare, pathology, or related services

Demonstrated success in achieving sales/revenue targets and managing a territory or portfolio
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with medical specialists and stakeholders

Ability to work independently, with initiative and accountability for results
- Analytical thinker with the ability to adapt strategies based on market conditions and performance insights
- Comfortable sharing knowledge, coaching peers, and contributing to a collaborative team environment
