Data Engineering Lead

We are hiring a
Lead Data Engineer
to join our Data & Analytics team.

Purpose:

Blackmores is on a journey to revamp their Data and Analytics (DNA) landscape to move from diagnostics analytics to predictive and prescriptive analytics. We are bringing in world class tools like Snowflake,

Fivetran

,

Coalesce

to build a platform which will enable us to change the DNA of the business and be more data driven. This platform will help us build our data science and Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) capability inhouse.

This role reports to the Head of Group Data & Analytics and is expected to comply with our hybrid work environment of working at least 3 days a week in our NSW offices – either in Surry Hills or Warriewood and 2 days from home.

Responsibilities include:

• Platform Leadership:
  Lead the design and build of a secure, scalable data platform from scratch, with strong governance and security controls.

• Team Building & Mentorship:
  Establish and grow a high-performing data platform team, mentoring members in modern engineering practices coupled with capability building and driver of culture change.

• Data Governance
  : Operationalize data governance principles and promote enterprise-wide data ownership and literacy across the organisation.

• Stakeholder Collaboration:
  Work closely with business and technology partners to understand data needs and deliver reliable solutions.

• Data Pipeline Development:
  Design and implement robust data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.

• ETL & Data Quality:
  Build ETL processes and ensure high data quality, reliability, and performance across the platform.

• DevOps & Automation:
  Apply CI/CD practices using tools like Terraform, GitHub, and GitHub Actions to automate deployments.

• Documentation & Compliance:
  Maintain clear documentation of data workflows and ensure alignment with governance and compliance standards.

Who are you?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  
  , Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.

• Relevant people leadership experience in building capabilities (technical and non-technical), driving change and culture building. Ability to mentor junior and non-technical stakeholders, promoting data literacy and a culture of curiosity and accessibility.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Kafka, with hands-on experience in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS or Azure) and data tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Coalesce, or DBT.

• Proven track record in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong ability to

  complex data sets, derive insights, and translate business needs into technical solutions.

• Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration and deployment, to support automated and reliable data workflows.
