Hiring; Lead Data Engineer - ETL - AWS - SQL

*You must live in Sydney for this role as 3 days per week in office are needed.

We need a strong Data Tech Lead who can work on solution design from end to end and has a background in Spark SQL, AWS, ETL.

This is not a hands off manager role - this is from someone who was once a strong data engineer with ETL/SQL and is now helping/guiding teams.

We need someone with a lot of ETL depth (they use Talend but if you've used SSIS or Informatica – that's fine), extensive Big Data & AWS cloud experience and hands on development experience with Spark SQL

Your day to day would be hands-on (AWS, ETL, SQL, Python) in a team of 30, alongside an engineering manager and a product owner to drive a major automation project and new initiatives (rather than just execute on them).

Stack; ETL, AWS environment, Spark, SQL, Python, Hadoop

The important stuff:

  • Someone who is able to lead a team of 2-3 data engineers and is able to help set them up for success, as well as be accountable for their deliverables.

  • AWS – this is a must – the entire product suite are on AWS. Azure or GCP wont work i'm afraid

  • ETL experience

  • Some leadership experience; a senior data engineer stepping up wont work i'm afraid. We need someone capable of leading a small team, wrangling them together, uplifting & leading solution design workshops.
