What you'll be doing As a Lead Data Engineer, you'll take ownership of major data initiatives, leading a team to modernise and optimise core data pipelines and platforms. You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on expertise to deliver scalable, automated, and efficient data solutions leveraging cloud and big data technologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end data engineering solutions across key transformation programs.
  • Guide and mentor a team of engineers to build efficient, high-quality data pipelines and integrations.
  • Drive platform optimisation through automation and AI capabilities.
  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to align solutions with strategic data objectives.

What you'll bring

  • Deep Big Data and Hadoop experience with strong Spark, Hive, and Presto (or equivalent) skills.
  • Expert-level SQL, including query tuning and optimisation.
  • Proven experience implementing ETL/ELT solutions using tools like Talend, DataStage, or Informatica.
  • Strong AWS experience across EC2, S3, RDS, and EMR.
  • Sound understanding of data modelling, metadata management, lineage, and data quality frameworks.
  • Hands-on Python experience, particularly in automation and AI integration.
