Melbourne City Centre, Victoria, Australia Victorian Government - Department of Health Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

About the role:

The Knowledge and Capability Development Officer provides critical coordination and delivery support to system-wide learning and capability-building initiatives across Safer Care Victoria. Working under the direction of the Manager, Knowledge and Capability Development and supporting the Senior Knowledge and Capability Officers, the Officer assists with the development, preparation, and implementation of education materials, events, and resources designed to strengthen safety, governance, and quality improvement capability across Victoria's health services.

The Officer supports the operational and logistical components of education delivery, including scheduling, communications, stakeholder liaison, and resource production. The role also contributes to drafting communications, managing content updates, and supporting the effective roll-out of system learning resources such as guides, toolkits, and frameworks.

The Knowledge and Capability Development Officer works collaboratively across SCV teams to ensure activities are aligned with strategic priorities and responsive to the needs of health services, clinicians, boards, and other system partners. The role assists in collecting and organising data and feedback to support evaluation and continuous improvement of learning initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to improving patient safety and system capability through education. It provides an opportunity to work closely with senior educators, clinical governance experts, and system partners in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

  • Additional formal training in adult learning, project management, healthcare improvement, or clinical governance would be advantageous.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of training, education programs, or learning resources-ideally in a healthcare, government, or quality improvement setting.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality principles, clinical governance, or healthcare systems is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong coordination skills, with the ability to manage documentation, event logistics, and stakeholder engagement tasks effectively.
  • Confidence using digital platforms (e.g. Microsoft Office, SharePoint, learning management systems) to support education and resource delivery.
  • A commitment to person-centred care and continuous learning, with an interest in improving healthcare through education and collaboration.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.
