About the Role:

The Principal Policy Officer, 30 by 30 Project will drive the development, coordination and implementation of strategic initiatives and projects to meet the objectives of the Protecting Important Biodiversity Areas program and Commonwealth funding agreement. The incumbent is also responsible for coordination of policy advice, leading a project, to develop the framework and tools to implement the National Other Effective Conservation Measures (OECM) Framework, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders and employees to ensure successful implementation of the OECM project.

Contract:

Term/Project-based up to 19 December 2026

Special Conditions:

  • Will be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
  • A current class "C" driver's licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
  • Inter and intrastate and remote area travel including travel in light aircraft, outside of normal hours of work and occasional overnight absences, will be required.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
  • Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
  • A current First Aid Certificate is essential.

Remuneration:

ASO8 $121,107 min - $125,679 max p.a.
