JK Built is a commercial carpentry company specializing in fit-outs, partitions, ceilings, and custom carpentry across Adelaide. Operating since 2021, we focus on delivering quality commercial construction projects with attention to detail.

The Role

We're seeking an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to supervise our carpentry teams and lead projects on site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage teams of 3-6 carpenters, coordinate daily operations, and ensure quality delivery on commercial fit-out projects across Adelaide. You'll be the go-to person on site, working closely with project managers and clients while still working with the tools.

What You'll Do
Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead and supervise carpentry teams of 3-6 on commercial sites
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and delegate tasks effectively
  • Ensure quality standards and workmanship are maintained
  • Mentor and develop junior carpenters and apprentices
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safety standards on site
  • Liaise with project managers, head contractors, and clients
  • Problem-solve on site and make decisions to keep projects on track
  • Monitor progress and report back to management
Hands-On Carpentry
  • Work alongside your team on partitions, linings, and ceilings
  • Install doors and door hardware
  • Read and interpret architectural plans and specifications
  • Lead by example with quality workmanship
  • Step in where needed to meet deadlines
What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in commercial carpentry
  • Proven experience as a leading hand, supervisor, or foreman
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage teams
  • Excellent communication with trades, clients, and management
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Confident making decisions and solving problems on site
  • Experience organising workflows and managing time effectively
  • Police check and working with children check (or willing to obtain)
  • Professional, reliable, and strong work ethic
