An excellent opportunity is available for a Service Attendant to join the Bioservices Department at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position

Service Attendants are responsible for the running of the service and preparation area within the Parkville Animal Facility. They are responsible for providing support to the animal facility by processing supplies and maintaining hygiene within the facility.

Key challenges include:

  • A physically demanding role, the ability to stand for extended periods of time, to kneel, bend and reach while working. Some degree of repetitiveness.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Use of specialised electrical equipment and/or machinery, e.g. cage washer, autoclaves.
  • Safe handling of industrial cleaners and other chemicals

Selection Criteria

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • No prior knowledge or experience is necessary relating to animal work is required.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to have a basic understanding of machinery used in the area.
  • Reading and comprehension of the English language is desirable.

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to work individually and as a part of a team.

Terms of Appointment

This position is an ongoing role in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 3 ($65,616 - $72,447). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
