We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive professional to become a key part of our APAC General Counsel's Office (GCO). Based in our Melbourne office, this full-time Compliance Analyst role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment, working Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.30 pm.
The role
As a Compliance Analyst, you will provide high-quality compliance and risk management support across the firm, including our international offices.
Working closely with partners, lawyers, secretaries, and other business support teams across APAC and the UK, you will assist in the onboarding of new clients and matters, ensuring all regulatory obligations are met and potential risks are identified and addressed.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Conducting conflict checks and clear basic conflicts of interest
- Perform anti-money laundering (AML) checks in accordance with legislation and firm policy
- Undertake business intelligence research using databases such as World-Check and client websites
- Verify client and matter information provided by partners/lawyers and support staff
- Implement information barriers where required
- Respond to enquiries from internal stakeholders regarding compliance processes
- Liaise with Risk team to analyse and resolve potential conflicts
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and special projects.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a passion about compliance and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will also have:
- 1-4 years' experience in a compliance or administrative role within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to extract and compile information from various resources
- Prior experience in using intake software/databases (e.g. IntApp, World-Check) desirable
- Chinese language skills (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) (written and verbal) desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Professional, calm, and resilient approach to work
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities
- A proactive mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
