The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of geospatial innovation and data governance. As a Spatial Data Management Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening the maturity of spatial data management practices, driving quality, and enabling the effective use and exchange of spatial data across a complex network of stakeholders. This role offers the chance to make a lasting impact in a highly respected organisation delivering services that benefit the broader community.

Must be able to attend the Melbourne CBD office and other sites on an ADHOC basis. Must have or be able to obtain a Victorian Driver's License.

The Role
As a Spatial Data Management Specialist you will be responsible for leading initiatives that embed effective spatial data governance and management practices.

Your other responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing automated processes to support the loading, maintenance, and exchange of spatial datasets.
  • Managing spatial data exchange with external stakeholders including councils, utilities, and government partners.
  • Driving the development and use of spatial metadata, ensuring compliance with data access agreements.
  • Providing subject matter expertise on best practice in spatial data management and governance.
  • Leading the implementation of new spatial data tools, frameworks, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting business cases for acquisition and management of spatial datasets such as imagery and LiDAR.

About You
In order to be a successful applicant you will bring extensive technical expertise in geospatial systems and data governance.

You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of spatial datasets, GIS platforms (Esri), and advanced use of FME for automation and integration.
  • Demonstrated experience in SQL and spatial SQL for asset data analysis.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and govern spatial metadata and datasets in line with organisational policies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to anticipate business needs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Geospatial, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related discipline.
