About the Role

Cire Community School is a leader in delivering innovative programs to students who have disengaged from education from Years 5 to 12. Our Community School offers an alternative to mainstream schooling, supporting some of the region's most vulnerable and marginalised young people.

Due to continued growth, we have a part-time opportunity available immediately at our Berwick campus. This role is for 28 hours per week spread over 4 days.

Our Learning Assistants work collaboratively with students, teachers, and wellbeing specialists to assist students with their individual learning needs and support them in achieving progress against learning objectives. Your days will be varied, always active and filled with purpose as you support the overall wellbeing of Cire students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individual students and small groups under the direction of a teacher, both in and out of the classroom, to enhance learning outcomes and support progress toward Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Focus Plans.
  • Be a positive role model, helping to establish and maintain a supportive classroom culture. Use effective behaviour management strategies in collaboration with teachers, aligned with school policies.
  • Support students in developing digital literacy by integrating technology into learning activities and helping them build confidence in using digital tools.
  • Work flexibly across classrooms and with wellbeing staff, contribute to team meetings and school events, and accompany students on excursions and camps as required.
  • Complete documentation related to student attendance, incidents, and learning adjustments. Maintain records of student support and assist with general classroom setup and administrative tasks.
