Port Melbourne Victoria, Australia Onyx Gaming Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Onyx Gaming are a trusted operational advisor and a leading Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) systems company. Our commitment to excellence has made us a force in the gaming industry, supporting hospitality venues across Australia.

Join our team We're looking for an experienced Business Analyst who's excited to deliver impactful projects and help shape our growth journey. Experience in the Australian gaming industry is a plus, but not essential — if you've worked in other highly regulated industries and bring strong compliance awareness and business insight, we'd love to hear from you
.

About the Role

In this role, you will bridge the gap between business needs, product development, and compliance, ensuring projects are aligned with the diverse state regulations and market demands. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather, analyse, and translate requirements into actionable insights and solutions that support business growth and compliance objectives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape product and operational strategies within a dynamic, highly regulated industry.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Business Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across product, operations, and compliance teams to identify business needs and translate them into clear functional requirements.
  • Conduct detailed gap analysis between current processes and desired outcomes, proposing solutions to meet both business and regulatory requirements.
  • Create business cases, process flow diagrams, and user stories to support project delivery.
  • Work closely with development team to ensure solutions are implemented according to specifications.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Industry Knowledge:
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of gaming laws and regulatory differences between Australian states (e.g., NSW, Victoria, Queensland).
  • Ensure business processes and product offerings comply with state-specific regulations, including restrictions on gaming machines, online wagering, and venue operations.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to stay updated on changes to laws or licensing frameworks that impact business operations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
  • Act as a liaison between business units, product managers, and technical teams to align product strategies with market demands.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with key stakeholders to define requirements and resolve conflicts.
  • Collaborate with external partners and vendors to integrate third-party solutions seamlessly into the business.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Work with the analytics team to interpret data trends and insights that inform product strategies and compliance reporting.
  • Monitor KPIs and metrics to ensure business objectives are being met and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports and dashboards to senior management, ensuring transparency in performance and project status.

About You

You bring proven experience as a Business Analyst in agile environments and are confident working with stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes. Experience in the gaming industry is a bonus, but not essential — if you've worked in other highly regulated industries and can demonstrate your ability to navigate complex, state-specific compliance requirements, we'd love to hear from you. Most importantly, you're curious, adaptable, and motivated to make an impact.

You're also comfortable delivering solutions that balance business needs with regulatory obligations, and you bring a collaborative, inclusive approach to teamwork — fostering mutual respect and open communication across stakeholders.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within the gaming or wagering industry.
  • Strong understanding of state-specific gaming regulations (e.g., licensing frameworks, machine limits, wagering rules).
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions with varying compliance requirements (NSW, VIC, QLD, etc.).
  • Proficiency in business analysis tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Office)
  • Familiarity with agile frameworks and experience delivering projects in agile environments.
  • Strong data analysis skills with experience using tools like Excel, Tableau etc.
  • Ability to organise and create detailed user stories in Jira.
  • Ability to use GenAI assistants to summarise, extract, and prepare first drafts and to generally speed up work.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Professional development opportunities through our L&D program and career growth.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Opportunity to work with a passionate and talented team.
  • Barista coffee machine, quarterly celebrations and regular team events.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a VGCCC Gaming License and/or OLGR License.

Some regional and Interstate travel may be necessary in this role.

Please attach your resume and a cover letter outlining the skills and experience you will bring to the role.

Onyx Gaming is an equal opportunity employer.

We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences. We are actively recruiting for this position and will engage with suitable candidates as soon we have reviewed their applications.

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
