Key Responsibilities

MUST HAVE A FOOD DEGREE


• Oversee and maintain the SICHMA Halal Management System Manual


• Lead and manage the halal certification team to ensure compliance with international halal standards


• Develop, review, and update policies, procedures, forms, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)


• Maintain the document control register and ensure updates are reflected on the official website


• Conduct external halal audits of clients, and supervise audit teams (travel within and outside the state is required)


• Investigate and resolve non-conformances and complaints


• Deliver staff training and development on quality and halal systems


• Liaise with senior management on daily operations and critical compliance matters


• Collaborate with regulatory authorities and international accreditation bodies


• Participate in and coordinate Management Review Meetings and committee meetings


• Ensure market access for SICHMA in all major halal markets globally


• Perform additional duties as directed by the Operations Manager

Required Skills and Experience


• Tertiary qualification in Food Science or a related discipline


• Strong background in Food Quality Assurance and Auditing


• Proven ability to lead teams and manage staff performance


• Extensive experience with Quality Assurance systems, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives


• Advanced knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and ISO standards


• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document control systems


• Experience in food law, food safety systems, and regulatory compliance

ISO Knowledge (Highly Desirable)


• ISO 9001: Quality Management Systems


• ISO/IEC 17025: Competence of testing and calibration laboratories


• ISO/IEC 17020: Inspection body operations


• ISO/IEC 17021: Certification of management systems


• ISO/IEC Guide 53: Product certification using QMS


• ISO 19011: Auditing management systems


• ISO/IEC 17000: Conformity assessment fundamentals

Other Essential Requirements


• A clear understanding of Islamic principles and halal requirements


• Must be a practicing Muslim


• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities


• High attention to detail and accuracy


• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines


• Demonstrated commitment to innovation and process improvement


• Must hold a valid Australian driver's licence
