Role Overview
This role is the backbone of the organisation's Freedom of Information compliance, ensuring requests are handled expertly and efficiently. You will be the trusted support to the FOI Officer, navigating complex legal frameworks and sensitive information with precision. This position offers a unique chance to deepen your legal and administrative skills in a dynamic, impactful environment.
About the Person
You bring strong communication skills, a knack for managing detailed processes, and a commitment to working autonomously. Your background in law or legal practice is a plus, and you're either already accredited or eager to become an Accredited FOI Officer. You're calm under pressure, able to build relationships across all levels, and take ownership of your work with integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the FOI Officer and legal team in managing and processing FOI requests accurately and on time
- Liaise across all organisational levels and external agencies to ensure smooth FOI operations
- Conduct third-party consultations regarding document release and internal reviews
- Help develop and implement systems to enhance FOI compliance and awareness across the organisation
- Deliver high-quality support and training to internal and external stakeholders on FOI processes
- Collaborate proactively with the team to meet shared goals and foster a culture of service excellence
- Champion workplace health and safety through responsible practices
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in law/legal practice
- Accredited or willingness to train as an FOI Officer
- Proven communication skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge or experience with FOI legislation and processes
- Ability to analyse complex information and make defensible decisions
- Strong self-management and ability to work independently
