About us

The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

What we do is integral to the Government's decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer's money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

The work area

This role sits within the Economic Policy Directorate which is part of the Economic business unit. The Economic Policy directorate develops economic strategies and policies, advances economic reforms, drives better regulation across the State's public sector, and undertakes economic modelling and in-depth economic analysis.

The opportunity

Are you passionate about building the evidence base for well-considered policy making? We are looking for a curious and motivated person to join us and make a difference for Western Australia. The Assistant Director of the Economic Modelling team is responsible for managing a team and providing strategic direction and quality assurance for a large and varied work program, including:

  • providing high-quality advice within Treasury and Finance and to Government on the likely impact of policies, investments and economic trends or emerging economic issues;
  • delivering rigorous economic modelling and data analysis to support assessment of proposed initiatives and identify new areas for economic reform; and
  • providing guidance to government agencies on the use of various economic impact analysis methods and tools.
