Matrix's state of the art facility in Henderson, WA, is a world-class manufacturing plant that services its clientele through offices and agents in key locations around the world.

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager - Matrix Corrosion Technologies (MCT) to drive customer acquisition and business growth across Commercial and Industrial sectors. Based in Brisbane, this role focuses on delivering innovative anti-corrosion coating solutions and equipment services for maintenance and greenfield projects. You will leverage your industry network and technical expertise to secure new business, build strong client relationships, and inform future product development.

With a core focus on new customer acquisition, key activities of the role include:

Business Development

  • Develop and implement strategies for new business opportunities, including market maps and business development plans.
  • Uncover and understand commercial business requirements and market trends to inform solutions, product development, and future offerings.
  • Leverage new and existing industry relationships to secure business and expand market presence in Australia.
  • Approach, negotiate, and close Tier 1 and Tier 2 client-focused solutions to achieve annual sales targets.
  • Track competitor activities and customer needs to refine business strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and internal teams.
  • Ensure Matrix and MCT brand is well known as a leading provider of anti-corrosion solutions.

Product Development and Review

  • Identify opportunities to develop new complementary products or service lines.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Group to integrate end-user perspectives into the design, development, testing, and evaluation of new and existing products.
  • Stay up to date with anti-corrosion technology, industry developments, challenges, and standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical understanding of anti-corrosion coatings, be commercially driven, and excel at building and maintaining client relationships. To be considered for this role you will have;

  • Extensive experience in a state or regional coating sales team or business development function with a proven track record of new customer acquisition and achieving sales targets.
  • An extensive and current network of relevant industry contacts to drive business growth.
  • Knowledge of industrial coatings, including preparation, application methods, performance characteristics, and relevant standards (AS/NZS, ISO, ASTM, NACE).
  • Ability to interpret and work with technical specifications and datasheets.
  • Solutions-based selling experience, translating technical features into customer value.
  • Proven ability to engage successfully with engineers, trades, and senior management.
  • Superior presentation, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and readiness to travel as required for business purposes.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a coating supplier or application company.
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales data capture processes.
  • Experience conducting manufacturer application training.
  • Understanding of manufacturer warranty processes.
