Role: Lead Data Engineers - (EL1 Level)

Location of work: Canberra

Length of contract: 12 months

Contract extensions: 24 months extension (two extensions of twelve months each)

Security clearance: Must have Baseline security clearance

Job details

CLIENT requires an EL 1 equivalent Data Engineer - Attack Surface Management Specialist to support the Cyber Hygiene Improvement Program.

Key duties and responsibilities

Candidate's must understand Python development, large data sets, and the information that underpins the internet. Require experience with either distributed cloud systems or working programmatically with complex data and databases. The ability to design and automate work efficiently at scale.

  • Design and development of software and cloud infrastructure for the micro-service architecture measurement system.
  • Maintaining the accuracy of the CHIPs scanning and attribution data.
  • Developing code using best practice principles including source control, infrastructure as code, testing and code review.
  • Supporting other parts of the CHIPs team in consuming information and maintaining their outputs.
  • Supporting the CHIPs program through planning, data analysis, and high priority jobs as required.

Technical skills


• Skills in programming languages,
• Cloud services and deployments,
• Data analytics,
• Databases and data structures,
• Familiarity with Linux, DNS, and IP network addressing.

Essential criteria

1.Experience automating processes in cloud based systems.

2.Development using the Python programming language or Terraform infrastructure as code.

3.Working effectively with a team of developers.

4.Experience with Linux and IP networking.

5.Experience with SQL databases.

6.Prior experience on attack surface management projects.

Desirable criteria

1.Experience with AWS services.

2.Familiarity with cyber security and internet standards.

3.Development using the JavaScript programming language.

4.Experience with Docker and distributed computing.
