We're Hiring Mechanic or 3rd–4th Year Apprentice Wanted

Barney's Marine is on the lookout for a qualified mechanic—or a 3rd or 4th year apprentice—ready to dive into a dynamic marine workshop in Hervey Bay. Whether your background is in marine, light vehicle, small engines, or heavy diesel, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

You'll join a skilled, supportive team handling:

  • Outboard servicing and diagnostics
  • Marine electronics installs
  • Boat and trailer repairs
  • Electrical rewires and fit-ups
  • Full boat package builds

No two days are the same

About You

You're hands-on, enthusiastic, and love solving problems. You take pride in your work, communicate well, and thrive in a team environment. You're also not afraid to get out and about for off-site jobs when needed.

Essential
  • Trade-qualified (or 3rd/4th year apprentice) in marine, light vehicle, diesel or small engine mechanics
  • Manual driver's license
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Great attention to detail
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Able to work unsupervised and take initiative
Desirable
  • Marine industry experience
  • Experience with inboards
  • Forklift license
  • Confined space/working at heights
  • Experience with Mechanic Desk or similar systems
