$66,472 - $67,292 per annum

The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.  The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville.  The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

Your Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists within our Infrastructure Services directorate for a Capital Construction Worker.  In this role, you will be responsible for providing labouring duties associated with roads and drainage capital construction and maintenance in the Whitsunday region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate plant and trucks in accordance with manufacturer requirements and Workplace Health and Safety legislation
  • Identify plant or truck defects and complete defect identification forms accurately
  • Work effectively and productively with limited supervision
  • Carry out general labouring duties, including vegetation control, road maintenance and construction drainage activities, concrete works, and small plant operation
  • Implement traffic management requirements (including traffic guidance schemes and traffic management plans)

Your skills and experience

Essential

  1. Class MR or HR/HC Driver's licence (or willingness to obtain)
  2. General Construction Safety Induction (White card)
  3. Traffic Control (or willingness to obtain)
  4. Traffic Management Implementation (or willingness to obtain)
  5. Agriculture Chemical Distribution and Control (or willingness to obtain)
  6. Provide First aid (or willingness to obtain)
  7. Current CPR (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

  1. Operational Competency in Plant Operation for Roller, Backhoe, Grader, Bobcat (Skid Steer).
  2. Certificate III in Civil Construction
