Senior Consultant – Cloud Operations Engineer

As a Senior Cloud & Site Reliability Engineer in our Modern Ops team, you'll play a critical role in building and operating secure, scalable, and highly reliable platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You'll work across infrastructure, SaaS systems, data platforms, and automation to ensure performant, cost-effective, and observable environments that empower both our internal teams and external clients.

We are building a truly modern operations capability—where SRE, DevSecOps, DataOps, FinOps, and PlatformOps converge to deliver seamless and resilient digital services. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who thrives on owning outcomes, eliminating toil, and championing platform excellence.

Participation in an on-call rotation is expected to support critical services and ensure platform uptime.

What Will You Do

Cloud & Platform Engineering:

  • Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation
  • Manage and scale Kubernetes workloads (EKS, AKS, GKE) and container orchestration strategies
  • Lead automation across CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Maintain internal developer platforms (IDPs) and reusable "golden paths" for self-service

SRE & Operational Excellence

  • Define and manage SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets for cloud and SaaS platforms
  • Lead incident response, conduct postmortems, and drive root cause analysis
  • Develop observability dashboards, runbooks, and performance metrics
  • Implement chaos engineering or failure injection to test system resilience
  • Drive change and release management through automation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incident support

Security & DevSecOps

  • Enforce IAM policies, encryption, and policy-as-code standards
  • Collaborate with security teams on vulnerability remediation and audit readiness
  • Enable secure CI/CD pipelines with a shift-left security approach

DataOps & SaaS Reliability

  • Ensure operational reliability of platforms such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and other SaaS systems
  • Collaborate with data teams on orchestration, ingestion, and pipeline monitoring
  • Monitor and secure integrations with external APIs and data services

FinOps & Cost Governance

  • Implement tagging, cost dashboards, and forecasting mechanisms
  • Optimise resource consumption and align infrastructure with business cost objectives

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Mentor and support engineering peers to uplift delivery standards
  • Promote an automation-first, risk-aware culture
  • Contribute to capability reviews, platform health assessments, and operational scorecards
  • Help define and improve the service catalogue, support models, and escalation paths
  • Participate in a community of practice across DevOps, SRE, DataOps, and PlatformOps

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years in Cloud, SRE, or DevOps roles across AWS and either Azure or GCP
  • Strong IaC experience (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.) and scripting (Python, Bash)
  • Deep experience with Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE) and Helm
  • Operational support experience for Salesforce and other SaaS platforms
  • Hands-on with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Stackdriver)
  • Solid understanding of cloud security and secure CI/CD (DevSecOps)
  • Experience in Agile environments and working with ITSM tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow)
  • Proven ability to manage incidents, SLAs, and system reliability at scale
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call support rotation

Desirable

  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, GCP, or Salesforce
  • Experience with DataOps tooling: Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Databricks
  • Exposure to Salesforce DevOps platforms (e.g., Copado, Gearset)
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, IRAP)
  • Knowledge of FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation tools
  • Experience building platform scorecards and automating governance reporting
  • Active involvement in DevOps or SRE communities of practice

Please note that this role requires Australian Citizenship and it is based in Melbourne or Sydney.
