We're looking for three passionate Horticulturalists to join our dynamic team — and make a real impact in some of South Australia's most iconic gardens

  • Two positions at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden
  • One position at Adelaide Botanic Garden

What you'll get your hands dirty with:

  • Applying best-practice horticulture across curated gardens
  • Tree and turf care, plant health, and biosecurity management
  • Irrigation and smart water practices
  • Supporting plant curation, records, and labelling
  • Event prep, site activation, and visitor support
  • General site maintenance — from pruning to problem-solving

What you'll bring:

  • Solid horticultural know-how (ideally in a botanic or amenity garden setting)
  • A love for plants, precision, and purpose
  • Team spirit and willingness to mentor apprentices/trainee
  • A keen eye for safety, presentation, and public experience
  • Bonus points for knowledge of plant records, irrigation systems, or biosecurity

Contract:

Three Ongoing Contracts Available

Essential Qualifications:

Certificate III in Horticulture (Trade Level Qualifications)

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties.
  • The incumbent may be assigned to a position, with another team or at another site to that advertised dependent on organisational and individual development requirements.
  • Organisational uniform is to be worn and maintained.
  • Current class "C" driver's licence, Senior First Aid certification, current licences, permits and an ability to safely operate a 4wd, horticultural machinery and use PPE is essential.
  • May be required to work outside of normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • This role has functions pertaining to working with children and is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person) Act 2016 as requiring a Working with Children Check (WWCC). By applying for this role you consent to being screened for appropriate behaviour and to the Department obtaining, or requiring you to obtain a WWCC.

Remuneration:

GSE5, $60,060 min - $60,663.20 max p.a.
