HR Advisor

Role Overview:

As HR Advisor you will play a key role in providing strategic and operational support to the HR and wider team. You will be responsible for advising managers and employees on HR related matters, managing recruitment processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. In this role you will be involved in fostering positive employee relations and contributing to the overall success of the group's HR function.

Mackays Group's head office is based in Tully QLD, with the position offering flexibility to work in-office, or remotely from Cairns or Townsville.

The role offers a 4-day workweek (38 hours), promoting an ideal work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and communicate HR policies, procedures and programs to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters including conflict resolution, disciplinary action and performance management
  • Manage recruitment and selection
  • Implement a reward and recognition program
  • Training and development
  • Stay up-to-date with employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance, advising management on legal requirements and best practices.
  • Support the WH&S team in managing incidents and injuries and RTW plans
  • Oversee HR administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records.
  • Assist with development and implementation of strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention
  • Work with Workforce Systems Manager to enhance use of the HRIS including data analytics

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Human Resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity and professionalism
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
