The Opportunity
As part of La Trobe Financials' Investment Management team, the Senior Equities Analyst will share our passion for investing, and commitment to delivering quality investment solutions for our 100,000 plus investors. The initial sector focus will be AREITS, along with coverage of one or more other sectors over time.
As a Senior Equities Analyst, you will lead and manage the research of companies under your coverage, reporting to the Head of Listed Equities. You will develop and articulate an investment framework and provide analysis on the companies and sector, along with conducting meetings with management teams, suppliers, customers, competitors and other market participants. An ownership mentality and ability to communicate insights will be key to your success and offer you career growth into new internal opportunities that are expected in time.
Key Responsibilities
- Cover AREITS and at least one other sector in-depth
- Develop and implement an investment framework in alignment with team and portfolio objectives
- Stay up to date with economic, political, and financial trends to inform investment decisions
- Ensure high-quality analysis across your coverage
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and other members of the team to articulate your research into portfolio construction and within the risk management framework
- Provide actionable investment ideas and participate in portfolio manager meetings with research-driven recommendations
- Communicate your insights to members of the team as well as clients and distribution partners
- Assist the team with ad-hoc requests and inquiries as needed
- Represent the firm at client events, conferences, research houses, and other public engagements
About You
This role requires the successful applicant to possess a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field (MBA, CFA preferred).
Additional skills and experience required include:
- 5-10 years of experience in investment research or industry
- Strong knowledge of listed equity markets and AREITs
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to articulate research into actionable ideas
- Strong commitment to integrity and professional ethics
- Ability to work as part of a small, high performing team
