We would love to hear from you if you are currently a Lawyer/Associate. The ideal candidate will also have experience in Property and/or Construction Insurance, preferably in pursuing subrogated claims.
Our firm is based in Brisbane CBD and will be on a full-time basis with a hybrid work arrangement.
All your technology needs will also be provided for you to perform your role.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day conduct and support on a range of complex litigated and unlitigated files.
- Day-to-day management of a portfolio of smaller matters.
- Providing prospects advice and associated strategy updates to insurers (including local and London Underwriters).
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Negotiating settlements and attending forms of ADR, including Without Prejudice Meetings and Mediations
- Assisting with document review and analysis.
- Providing expert legal advice throughout the pre-litigation and litigation process.
- Appearing in court and instructing counsel.
- Communicating with external stakeholders such as other parties, Insured clients, brokers, counsel and experts.
- Assisting with business development opportunities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Following all the Firm's policies and procedures.
- Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
What you'll need to be successful:
- Admission to practice law in Australia.
- Minimum of 2 years Post-Qualification Experience.
- Experience in insurance litigation is highly regarded, but not essential.
- Experience in general litigation is required.
- Desire to assist others and work collaboratively in a high performing team.
- An interest in fee-earning and case management.
- High level of competency with iManage (or similar document management system) and time recording software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products (including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel), along with the willingness to be trained further.
- A willingness to adopt and utilise AI and new technologies.
- A proactive attitude to driving matters forward, with the ability to learn quickly.
- Strong financial control abilities to ensure work is undertaken within agreed reserves.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, and an appreciation of the importance of management information for clients.
- An understanding of basic subrogation principles is preferred, and an enthusiasm to learn more about this area is a must.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
