Consulting Forestry Analyst

To continue the growth of our consulting business and to capitalize on the evolving opportunities unfolding from the carbon and nature repair markets, we've created this exciting new role to join our corporate team.

This position is ideally suited to an experienced forestry resource modeler/analyst, wood-flow planner, or consultant who is looking to take the next step in their career pathway.

About the role

This newly created role will primarily be responsible for supporting the business to secure and deliver a regular flow of client consulting projects with the assistance of specialist resources within the team. It will also have the secondary responsibility of developing, validating and customizing various land use models we can establish as on-ground projects for clients.

Key responsibilities for this unique role include:

Consulting

• Developing effective proposals / tenders to secure new projects
• Providing accurate time / cost estimates to ensure profitability
• Managing the 'on time' delivery of assigned projects within budget
• Writing high quality project reports that address each client's specific objectives
• Maintaining effective client communication to ensure all expectations are met
• Collaborating with internal & external stakeholders to deliver all of the above

Whilst the successful candidate will not be expected to have expertise across all of the following areas, the scope of consulting projects completed by PF Olsen includes: carbon project feasibilities, due diligence for forest acquisitions, forest valuations, biomass feasibilities, research projects and a broad range of bespoke forestry projects.

Land use models

• Facilitate the development of financial models for identified land use projects
• Oversee the validation of key assumptions including market testing of costs where required
• Customize land use models to meet specific client objectives (to support their investment decisions).

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• At least two to three years' experience in resource modelling and/or forestry consulting
• High level of proficiency in developing and managing detailed financial forestry and/or land use resource models using Tigermoth or similar applications
• Excellent written communication skills with ideal experience in proposal and report writing
• Proven project management ability, including planning, budgeting and delivery
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Undergraduate qualification in Forestry (or equivalent).

Ideally, you'll also have a good understanding of carbon markets, particularly those relating to commercial tree plantations and environmental plantings.

Whilst this role would preferably be Melbourne based, the location can be flexible for the right candidate.
