Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Physiotherapist to join the Northern Health Physiotherapy Department.

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 2 Physiotherapist with an interest in gerontology to join the Physiotherapy team at Northern Health. This opportunity will suit an experienced physiotherapist with sound clinical skills and a strong commitment to quality patient care.

The Grade 2 Physiotherapist will work in Community Therapy Services (CTS) with the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) population (people aged 65 or over), providing centre and home/community based interventions (including running groups), using an interdisciplinary approach.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Triage long stay patients off the CTS waiting list
  • Complete interdisciplinary assessments to determine clients' needs
  • Provide appropriate interventions to meet the client's immediate needs
  • Refer on to appropriate services to meet clients' needs
  • Varied caseload including gerontology, progressive neurology and general musculoskeletal clients

The Grade 2 Physiotherapist will have a leading role in ensuring excellence in client care and education of staff and students in the physiotherapy stream. The clinical caseload will vary depending on demand but can include a mix of neurological, musculoskeletal and general physiotherapy. This role will supervise junior staff and be involved in the supervision of physiotherapy students on placement.

This role is a full time, fixed term position at 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly accrued day off (ADO) based at Bundoora Centre and Broadmeadows Hospital. Job share will be considered.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated expertise with complex community clients, particularly those over 65 years of age who have multiple comorbidities and may include history of falls/high falls risk
  • Experience managing patients in the community (centre based and home based, individual therapy and group therapy)
  • Demonstrated capability in service innovation and development.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and initiative in developing and promoting clinical care
  • Well developed interpersonal skills
  • Well developed organisational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team
