Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Grade 1/2 Orthotist to join the Orthotics team.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
The role requires specialist knowledge with the management of high-risk foot offloading and orthotic management for clients with diabetic foot ulceration and Charcot Neuroarthropathy.
This role is responsible for:
- Orthotic management within high risk foot clinic
- Orthotic management on acute inpatient work with participation in weekend roster (4 hour Saturday service)
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Undergraduate degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics
- Eligible for membership with Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association
- Demonstrated clinical skills within acute care including spinal management, complex neuromuscular disorders, high risk foot offloading
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and awareness of interdisciplinary team functioning
- Directs and models person centred care
- Demonstrate competence in ability to assess clients, plan and implement appropriate intervention, ensuring optimal outcomes for Orthotic patients in inpatient, outpatient and community settings
- Demonstrated clinical skills and understanding of the needs of Northern Health clients specifically in the areas of high risk foot and wound management, fracture management inclusive of spinal orthotic management, and rehabilitation
