Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Location: Sydney

About the Role

We're seeking an enthusiastic Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help design, build, and scale our observability and reliability framework across critical customer-facing applications. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with modern monitoring tools and collaborate with experienced SREs to ensure seamless application performance and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) aligned to critical customer journeys.
  • Apply strong knowledge of observability concepts, including logs, metrics, traces, SLIs, and SLOs.
  • Integrate and manage observability tools such as Dynatrace, ELK stack, and Nagios to provide deep insights into performance and reliability.
  • Build and optimize alerting pipelines using PagerDuty to enable timely and actionable incident responses.
  • Collaborate with senior Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) and application teams to identify monitoring gaps and drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of machine learning/anomaly detection strategies for proactive issue detection.

Tools & Technologies

  • Tooling: Dynatrace, ELK stack, Nagios, PagerDuty
  • Environments: On-premises and cloud-hosted applications
  • Practices: SRE principles, customer journey mapping, SLIs/SLOs, incident response automation

Who You Are

  • Foundational understanding of SRE principles with a passion for observability and reliability engineering.
  • Comfortable working with monitoring and alerting tools, with eagerness to expand expertise across large-scale systems.
  • A proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of impactful outcomes.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with OpenTelemetry (OTEL).
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
  • Basic automation or coding experience (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
