Intelligence Analyst

The purpose of this role is to collect and analyse open and authorised (closed) source information and evidence to produce tactical, operational and strategic intelligence products and advice to support the investigation of allegations of corrupt conduct in the performance of the Commission's functions.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

The annual salary is $119,157 to $132,627, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading (currently 17.5%).

Essential requirements

  • Candidates will be assessed against the following requirements:
  • Significant experience as an intelligence analyst in an operational law enforcement, investigative or similar environment.
  • A high level of technical, problem solving and analytical skills, and well-developed planning and organisational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, occupations, and seniority, both internal and external to the Commission.
  • Knowledge of the machinery of government and public sector organisational systems.
  • Appropriate and relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications.

Employment is contingent upon the successful candidate having the ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance at Negative Vetting 1.

Who we are looking for:

  1. The ideal candidate should have expert skills in gathering, organising, evaluating, and interpreting information from both open and authorised sources. They must be proficient in applying data interrogation and analytical methods to identify trends, patterns, and relationships crucial to operational objectives, thus aiding strategic decisions and investigation tactics.

  2. The candidate must possess specialist knowledge in analytical and technical systems, intelligence, and information resources. This includes expertise in the analysis of telecommunications data and the efficient use of the Commission's data collection and analysis systems to produce accurate and reliable intelligence reports.

  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. The candidate needs to be capable of preparing clear, concise intelligence reports, charts, and diagrams that are easily understood by various audiences, including internal teams and external authorities like the Director of Public Prosecutions. They should effectively convey key issues, risks, and recommendations within their produced intelligence.

  4. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively within a team environment. They should be adept at maintaining productive working relationships, managing conflicts, and contributing to team efforts by providing high-quality intelligence products. Maintaining thorough records and ensuring intelligence profiles are readily accessible to team members are also crucial.

  5. A degree or higher qualification in an intelligence-related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution is highly desirable. Significant experience as an intelligence analyst in a law enforcement, investigative, or similar operational environment is required. The candidate should also show strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
