St Laurence's College is a Catholic boys school in the Edmund Rice tradition. The College is structured into three schools Primary (Years 5-6), Middle (Years 7-9) and Senior (Years and has an enrolment of approximately 2,050 boys and employs over 260 staff. Our College was founded in 1915 and aims to offer a Liberating Education, based on a Gospel Spirituality, within an Inclusive Community committed to Justice and Solidarity.
Applications are invited for the position of Dean of Business & Finance, permanent, full-time, to commence in 2026.
The Dean of Business & Finance will be concerned with external accountability, the efficient daily financial and business organisation of the College, and oversight of the College strategic plan and some whole school programs. The Dean of Business & Finance is a member of the College Leadership Team, the Senior Leadership Team and members of other Committees.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, with experience in budget planning and monitoring, financial reporting, managing cash flow and capital works. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team are also essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
As an integral member of the College Leadership Team, you will have a visible and relational approach, ensuring that the College's philosophy, aims, objectives and Mission Statement are reflected in the role, and ensuring that our financial resources are used effectively to support our mission.
The Dean of Business & Finance is responsible for the effective operation of the College within the following key accountability areas:
- Financial Management
- Business Manager
- Legal & Human Resources
- Strategic Management
- Other.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting
- Be CA or CPA qualified is highly desirable
- A current Paid Blue Card, or be eligible to apply for one
- A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a comparable organisation, preferably the education sector
- Extensive experience in the leadership and delivery of financial management, reporting and accounting services
- Strong strategic and organisational skills
- A commitment to the goals and aims of Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition
- Professional competence and demeanour, ensuring behaviour and presentation reflects College values.
