About The Role
This role will be responsible for the development and implementation of Council's Environment and Resilience strategies, policies, procedures, contracts, programs and provide a professional and confidential service.

The role is also, working with the community to provide efficient, risk responsive, and customer-focussed services in improving community resource behaviour and considerations to better align with the principles of ecological sustainable development, resilience building and sustainability.

You can also expect to:

  • Working with the Manager Environment and Resilience to develop Council's Environment and Resilience Action Plans, Net Zero Emission Plans.
  • Implement and/or facilitate, review and update of Council's Environment & Resilience Strategies and Action Plans under guidance of the Manager.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate community engagement and education program in collaboration with Circular Economy and Environment teams
  • Supervise/manage identified projects under the guidance of the Manager Environment and Resilience.
  • Work in collaboration with key relevant departments to embed resilience into future council policy and planning policies to manage shocks and stresses impacting the natural resources, the environment and community.
  • Prepare grant and awards submissions by seeking alternative sources of funding and administer grants.
  • Work across council departments, inter-agencies and stakeholder groups to report on the progress of projects delivered as aligned with outcomes under the Environment and Resilience Strategy and resource efficiency.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent recognised tertiary qualification in environmental management, urban strategy or planning, resource efficiency, climate change, environmental science, or related discipline with proven experience in delivery across similar areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of strategies and policies.
  • Proven work experience in areas of climate change mitigation and adaptation, resource efficiency, renewable energy and/or resilience planning.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of community education and events within outcome areas as related to building community resilience, emergency preparedness and environmental sustainability activities and programs.
  • Demonstrated strong community engagement and behaviour change skills and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management practices, leadership, and financial management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical advisory skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant application for sustainability, resilience and environmental projects and delivery of these as related to reporting requirements.

Salary Range:
$112,129 to $125,585 per annum, plus superannuation plus 12% superannuation
