About the position
As a Plant Operator in the grass
control section of the Parks & Recreation Services Branch, your
primary responsibility is to efficiently operate plant and
equipment, in line with Council policies, to control and manage
vegetation within the Toowoomba Region's Open Space areas.
This role encompasses the safe operation and maintenance of various
machinery while also providing occasional supervision to casual
work teams from time to time during peak operational
periods.
This position will work under
limited supervision.
- The base wage rate for
this position is $1,257.27 gross per 38 hour week, plus
17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65%
superannuation. - This is a Permanent
Full time position based at our Principal Depot in
Charlton. - Accrue up to 4 weeks' flex time to be taken as

How to be successful in this position - Success
Criteria
- Hold the mandatory
qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under
the 'Success Criteria' in the
Position Description. - Proficiency in plant and equipment maintenance, including
recognising and/or identifying faults or issues. - Knowledge of pre-start procedures and the ability to ensure
that machinery is in safe and working condition before
operation. - Proficiency in maintaining maintenance records, tracking
equipment usage, and reporting issues. - Knowledge of practices to minimise equipment downtime and
an understanding of troubleshooting techniques to identify and
address equipment issues promptly. - Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety systems and
process and a willingness and ability to engage with a specific
understanding of Council procedures. - Demonstrated numeracy,
written and oral communication skills. - Good customer service
skills with the ability to provide accurate and timely advice
in a helpful and supportive manner. - Demonstrated ability to
effectively lead a small team during peak operational periods,
ensuring cooperative, safe, and ethical work practices, with
discretion in selecting and organising work processes and
resources. - Strong commitment to
fostering teamwork and collaboration within the team to achieve
common goals. - Ability to perform
physical laboring tasks and to complete work neatly and
efficiently in terms of expected standards of
service. - Understanding of and
commitment to Council's Organisational Value and
Behaviour of Accountability.
