About the Business

Yarrabee Coal Company is a wholly owned subsidery of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, which is a couple hours west of the Capricorn Coast. We currently have exciting opportunities for qualified Mechanical Engineering Tradespeople to join our dynamic team. With an international sales portfolio, Yarrabee is a proud producer of high quality PCI coal. Yarrabee also manages the Boonal Joint Venture Coal Stockpile and Train Loadout Facility, for both Yarrabee and Jellinbah Mine's Coal. Operating continuously since 1982 Yarrabee has a strong long term future outlook for ongoing coal production. The site employs a workforce of approximately 400 people, which proudly boasts it's integrated close knit culture of people who collectively pull together as a team.

Yancoal boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Crew Supervisor, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to develop a high degree of proficiency and working knowledge of Yarrabee's plant and equipment; moreover you must be able to perform service and repairs with minimal supervision from the Crew Supervisor.

The successful applicant will have

• Relevant Trade Qualification
• Applicable Coal Competencies
• Current Standard 11 Mine Induction (Surface)
• Current Queensland Driver's licence
• Thorough understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations
• Advanced and proven mechanical knowledge on heavy equipment and fault finding

Skills and Experience

• Sound communication skills
• Basic computer skills, word processing and spread sheeting
• Highly skilled and proven ability to identify and diagnose faults on heavy mining equipment
• Ability to self-manage, prioritise work load and demonstrate a strong work ethic
• Ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required
• Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues
• Previous experience in the maintenance of plant and machinery within a mining or heavy industry environment
• Proven previous experience with fault finding on heavy mining equipment
