The opportunity

Delaware North Australia are looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Chief Kitchen Steward to join our leadership team at the iconic MCG.

As Chief Kitchen Steward, you will be responsible for building and leading a loyal back of house team to maintain the cleanliness of all food and beverage production areas, kitchens and outlets. What you will do?

  • Manage stewarding department rosters, ensuring compliance with modern award and working rights regulations
  • Provide comprehensive on-the-job training to new team members, maintaining adherence to high standards
  • Supervise kitchen stewards with a hands-on approach, ensuring efficient shift operations
  • Oversee the deep cleaning of kitchens and back-of-house areas, ensuring all tasks meet the highest hygiene and WHS standards
  • Ensure safe handling and use of chemicals during cleaning processes

More about you

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in a commercial kitchen environment or large stewarding department
  • Understanding of commercial kitchen equipment, chemical handling, food safety, HACCP, and WHS requirements
  • Proven written and oral communication skills and sound computer literacy
  • Ability to work a 7-day roster including morning and evening shifts, public holidays, and weekends
