The Datacenter Operations Manager oversees the planning, delivery, and ongoing management of hosting services within a data centre environment. They ensure uptime, performance, and security of hosted infrastructure while managing teams, suppliers, and processes that support enterprise-scale IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee daily operations of hosted infrastructure, including physical servers, virtualised platforms, and cloud integrations.
  • Manage SLAs for availability, incident resolution, and performance within the data centre environment.

Infrastructure Management

  • Lead deployment, configuration, and optimisation of hosting platforms (on-prem, hybrid, and cloud).
  • Coordinate capacity planning, monitoring, and scaling of compute, storage, and networking resources.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage hosting engineers and support staff, ensuring clear responsibilities and upskilling pathways.
  • Act as the key point of contact between business units, customers, and external vendors/partner.

Security, Risk & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce security standards aligned to ISO27001, SOC2, or government compliance frameworks.
  • Manage patching, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning/testing.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for automation, cost optimisation, and improved resilience.
  • Introduce new hosting technologies and processes that enhance service delivery.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background
    in data centre hosting operati
    ons (e.g., rack/stack, power, cooling, networking).
  • Proven experience wi
    th virtualisat
    ion (VMware, Hyper-V
    ), cloud host
    ing (Azure, AWS, GCP), and hybrid models.
  • Knowledge
    of network infrastruct
    ure (LAN/WAN, firewalls, load balancers) a
    nd storage syst
    ems (SAN/NAS).
  • Familiarity wi
    th ITIL proces
    ses (incident, change, problem management).
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
